Jimmy Webb in South Africa

Posted on 03. Sep, 2013 by in News, South Africa

Jimmy Webb had an amazing trip to South Africa this summer, amassing one of the most impressive tick lists ever assembled for flashing. Jimmy has really stepped up his game in the last few years and has become one of the strongest boulderers out there. In a world where seemingly everyone is striving for attention by climbing V13, Jimmy sets himself apart by flashing those problems. This video is well worth a watch, and I wholeheartedly approve of Jimmy’s efforts, not only on the rock, but to demonstrate that he has done what he says he’s done by providing uncut footage. Well done.

Incredible climbing! And he even seems to be in full control throughout all climbs.

This blog post also raised a couple of questions into my mind. First, providing uncut footage of a climb doesn’t really prove that one has done it on his/her first go. Second, grading a climb based on a single attempt may give an incorrect impression of the difficulty of the climb.

Not that I doubt Jimmy’s ascents or his ability to grade climbs. Just wanted to point out these things and start a discussion.

I always get psyched watching Jimmy, gotta love watching a 6 foot 170 lb dude smash the hardest boulders.

It’s a strange thing what you guys do or you did. Climbing rocks… and to have come to SA to do this is strange i have to admit. I live in Cape Town and there’s more to rocks here, trust me. Glad you enjoyed it though.
