Saturday I took a study break and hiked out to Lincoln Lake for the first time this year. I was surprised at how little snow there was and how many people were there. With the road construction in the Park this summer, it seems to be the destination of choice for many climbers.
Even with the high elevation, the area was a bit warm, however that didn’t stop the sending from happening.

Alex Puccio and Shauna Coxsey, visiting from the U.K. for the World Cup, both made quick ascents of Unshackled Sit V10 or V11. Earlier in the week Shauna, who finished second at the competition, also quickly climbed Phobos, also V10 or V11.
Alex Manikowski climbed The Exfoliator V12 or V13 as well, but the hero of the day was Andy Gullsten, another visiting European from Finland. Gullsten had one of the best days Colorado has ever seen, climbing Evil Backwards V12 or V13, Bebe Wolverine V12, Tattooed Teardrops V12 or V13, Great War for Civilization V13, and flashing the aforementioned Unshackled Sit as a warmup. Impressive to say the least. If that wasn’t enough he also nearly flashed The Exfoliator at the very end of the day, sticking the undercling from the start, but he failed to put it together before the darkness fell. It was nice to get out away from the books, but I felt weak and the altitude certainly had an effect.
