Elkland II

Here are some more photos and video from the weekend at Elkland.

Tommy Caldwell on the finishing moves of Dreamclimb V8, The Art of Flight is the left line.

Making the third ascent of The Plague V9

An awesome new project that is in the V11-V13 range, found by Chad and Dave

Here is a a poor quality video of Dave making the second ascent of Carefully by Hand V12. Unfortunately, my memory card ran out at the end, but I thought a number of you would still enjoy watching what was captured. Dave is well through the crux and the next move after he sticks the left hand is somewhat trivial.

Jaime, I’m pretty sure you’ve already disclosed this at some point, but how does one find the Elkland boulders?

First off I’d like to say I’ve never written a post and it is long overdue. I got into bouldering two years ago and this site has been my home for alpine guidance. The reason I decided to boulder may days a week is though the inspiration and beta I have found on this site. I’ve seen you at movement before and thanked you but I really appricate the extra effort after actaully having climbed all day to make thoughtful posts. Anyways, I went to elkland today after being windblown off emerald this morning. It was awesome and after getting home an reading your blog i realized what the problems I did actually are! I am cerious if you have been much east of the boulder that art of flight is on. I’m planning on going there a fair amount in the upcomming weeks and want to develop a couple of solid moderates. Add one more under 30 to be psyched on development.

Thanks for the comment. I have been there are there are more projects. It’s a bit warm and I’ve been into sport climbing recently, but I’m sure there is plenty to do. In fact I cleaned off one fairly worthy problem on that hillside in the V10 range.
