Poudre Canyon

Posted on 09. May, 2011 by in News

Saturday was a warm but great day in the Poudre Canyon. I went up to meet some friends at The Bog. I wasn’t planning on climbing much but seemed to remotivate when I climbed Sparkle V8, an old Jay Shambo problem I wrote down on a ticklist 9 years ago. We walked over to Cookie Monster, a low roof with a big double dyno. This was climbed in 2001 by Mike Auldridge (FA) and Jeremy Bisher. I finally started committing to the dyno but my foot was ever so slightly dragging on the pad. Determined not to dab, I took the pads away, telling myself that if I really went for it, I would do the dyno cleanly and the pads would be unnecessary. Nic Oklobjia, a good friend who was visiting from Minnesota, captured the send on video. I think this one is probably hard V10, but one move dynos are always very difficult to grade. I would call it V11 before I called it V9. Regardless, it was a fun day with good friends. Check out the video!

    Oi!

    Just some yank ex-pat bumbly who follows your blog and is living the dream. I like what you say about climbing. I even find some of it motivational. However, If you embed any more of your videos with autoplay ticked, I will be pissed and stop following your blog.

    Touchy, touchy aren’t we Sol? Did you notice the big “stop” button that appears with the video player? Try that before you threaten Armageddon/stopping following the blog.

    I wouldn’t call that a sit start. Cookie Monster is just west of the big roof at the Bog, on the same level as Indian Ladder. it’s not for from the main cluster. It brought joy to my face!
    @RH I wouldn’t call that a sit start.
    @Mark E thanks

    I didn’t edit the video, I just reposted it from a friends Vimeo site. I don’t own a video camera, so it’s nice when I can share video of me climbing.
