If you have ever done a Gill problem you probably realize what a visionary he was.
I really enjoyed the problems he did in the Gunks and the Tetons.

Perfect. I love how there are ZERO comments on this..
Great post to clear the cobwebs of prior threads…I wonder what Gill would say about the last few threads??

heh…. BigA I was thinking exactly the same thing, no respect for the history, or the pioneers. Only about NOW.
Young chumps, this is “The Godfather”, recognize.
BTW, I have a Wilford poster at Rotary above my desk, and Lynn Hill early eighties poster next to it. 9 out of 10 climbers that see these posters on a daily basis have no idea who either of them are, not kidding.

I was thinking the same thing last night!!! I felt it very ironic that there was a thread about semantics and then a clip of John Gill talking about how we should just enjoy the climbing.
I’m surprised nobody called out John for jump starting that boulder problem when there is clearly a lower start…
One of the people I am most proud of ever meeting is John Gill.
@matt: Word.

He would laugh. I have discussed these issues with him recently.

“You can’t give up . . . Never, ever . . .”
As someone who’s training and climbing harder in my 50s than any time in my life, I can only say these are real words to live by. Gill is a master in so many ways! Thanks for the links Jamie.
