Mt. Evans

This weekend is the final weekend the road is open to Wolverineland. Oddly, it’s been unseasonably warm here in Boulder and in the boulders around Lincoln Lake. I have had a few days up there recently, but it’s always been too warm to put any serious attempts at anything difficult. Sunday I managed the outrageous [...]

I have short interview in the newest issue of Urban Climber #43, in case you just can’t get enough of my Sherriff-ic rhetoric. But if you’re interested in reading something actually interesting, check out the more substantive article on Ms. Payne, and her recent accomplishments.

I just spoke with the ranger at Mt. Evans. The road will be open to Summit Lake (with access to Lincoln Lake) this weekend and next. Even if the weather is perfect, the road will close Oct. 4. That means that there are ten more climbing days left! Time to get out and send your [...]

Today was Dave’s final day at Wolverineland, as he will be gone at the Nor’easter, for the next two weeks or so. The road closes in 11 days and the mad scramble is on to finish projects. In classic fashion, Graham climbed the FA of Vanilla Sky V14, which was the last problem pictured in [...]

Fall is here and the amazing hard problems continue coming from Wolverineland. Nalle Hukkataival arrived last week and has added more psyche to the already motivated group. Jon Cardwell has also returned from his very successful trip to Brazil, where he climbed numerous V13s and established a new V14 roof, House in the Sky. Woods, [...]

Fred graded it V14 and after 8 years and a number of attempts by strong climbers, it seems Paul is suggesting V15. Daniel Woods tried and failed [...]

Just a quick update from a brief evening session at Wolverineland. Dave Graham made the first ascent of a new V14 called To Your Scattered Bodies Go, which we had been referring to as “The Ski Jump Project”. It sits alone on the ridge. This is an obvious sit start to a problem put up [...]

It was a great weekend of sending up in the high country. Daniel Woods did the FA of Warrior Up V15. This is an amazing roof problem on excellent rock. The first move is the crux, and it involved a massive reach off of a flat undercling in a very steep roof to what could [...]

Just a bit of news from Lincoln Lake. We had a great day yesterday as the temperatures finally dropped. Snow has already fallen on the summit and it has brought with it crisp conditions! It was probably in the upper 30s in the parking lot but warmed considerably as we got down to the lake. [...]
