Mt. Evans

Great news from the new zone! Daniel Woods made the FA of a stellar project found and cleaned up by Dave Graham. Here are some pictures of Dave trying it from Sunday. I think Daniel is calling it 8B. Sick! Dave has been putting an astonishing amount of effort into scoping, finding and cleaning new lines. Well done.

Was Dave there when the send went down? It kinda sucks when you put effort into establishing a line and someone swoops in behind you and sends it. Not to bring up the dreaded red-tagging argument, but do you agree? And then who names it? Haha!

Regardless, looks like an aesthetic line, and I’m always happy to see new problems being put up. Props to both, and cool shots!

while dave has gotten flack for swooping in and nabbing FAs from others, he has always seemed to be consistent and fair: openly sharing his projects so others can get the FA energy flowing for all.

like a bait ball. when the sharks and tuna and swords and dolphins and frigate birds all are allowed, all may feast more heartily than any lone hunter.

    wait, what?

I believe in total freedom, and the best climber should do the FA. that being said, I would instantly step aside if a weaker friend were close and expressed interest in doing it first. I think this is a matter of morality vs. ethics in the context of climbing.
