Angie Payne, in a stunning effort, has made the first female ascent of the classic and very difficult No More Greener Grasses at Mt. Evans. She spent 4 days on the problem. This is one of the hardest problems ever climbed by a woman, and one of the best problems in America. Very well done. […]

Sunday I went to the Hallett Boulder to shoot some pictures for the guidebook. I didn’t have any intention of climbing, but when some friends Will and Dan showed up, I was psyched to pull on a bit. The weather was cool and breezy up high. The North Face of Hallett Peak, with the Hallett […]

A while back I posted about a new V14 in Brazil, O Dia Santo. American Daniel Woods, not one to take low grades, has made a repeat, suggesting “soft” V13.

Angela Payne has made the 3rd female ascent of Clear Blue Skies V11 at Mt. Evans. Well done. She has this to comment on the grade, “As for the grade, definitely not V12. I guess V11. Today it felt easy 11, but conditions were good.”

I asked Chris Danielson, the American Head Setter for the World Cup and good friend, to give an insider perspective on setting for the best climbers in the world. Here are his thoughts: Competition climbing is an interesting game, both for the competitors who throw themselves at the walls and for those of us who […]
