Hueco Tanks

Posted on 27. Feb, 2009 by in News

I just got an email from Nalle Hukkataival who is in Hueco Tanks and has been tearing it up. Not only did he have one of the best days Hueco has ever seen climbing Full Throttle V13, Algerita V13, flashing Le Pelerin V12 flashing Full Service V10, he followed this up by flashing The Full Monty V12, which is the benchmark for the grade in my opinion, a few days later and more so for a taller climber like Nalle. He also climbed Nagual V13 and Alma Blanca V12/13. Stunning climbing, particularly in the heat. Here is a photo of a new problem he put up in the East Spur, called the Machinist V13. It climbs a long over hang about 20ft right of Glas Roof on the same boulder.

Check out Nalle’s website http://nalle-hukkataival.blogspot.com/

    beta for
Dougs roof: If you onsight this your not all that good, start on the side pull jug, and press your elbow against the rock as you pull with your right hand. The hand that is pulling place it on a slopey side pull good enough for one pad. Smeer with your left foot, and high step to a good foot. Right for a blind hand hold that people rarely ever find on their first attemp. Grab the slopey dice edge out left. Place your feet on a nub for your right foot, and a nice smeer out left if you are tall, or put your left foot on that nub if you are short, for a drop knee out right, but if you are tall, place it on the obvious for sandstone foot out left. Make a reachy move to a nice jug. Either hang by one arm from it, or reach up to the cookie from the good feet holds. Prepare for a roof, reach up to the good flakes and climb up to a nice flat dish. Match your hands and place left heal in the bigger roof flake. Reach up with your left hand to a jug that has been there for 7 years. Grab a heal out right, and reach up to the juggy undercling, most climbers know as the Horn. Reach straigh up to a nice jug, match and climb left to more good jugs. Climb higher to a nice jug, and rest shortly for a tricky finish to the top rope anchors. hahaha
